Madrid and Barça have the two most lethal attacks in the league – Barça have scored 82 goals so far this season and Madrid 62 – but their attacking philosophies, and indeed the way they concede goals, are markedly different as the analysis below shows.

Leo Messi’s 38 goals are the difference between the two, with Madrid more effective in the air . Curiously, Barça conceded their first goal from a header so far this season in their last league game against Seville, when Botia scored the opener at the Camp Nou.

The Club’s Medical Services have announced that Xavi Hernández has sustained muscle tear in his left hamstring and will be out of action for 10 to 15 days. The midfielder finished this Wednesday’s match against Real Madrid with physical discomfort. Therefore, he will miss tomorrow’s Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu.
It’s worth noting that Xavi was given the medial all-clear on February 18 after he successfully recovered from a similar injury. The midfielder went on to play against Milan, Sevilla and Madrid (Cup).

If he gets the nod, he'll be very eager to leave his mark on the game as a good performance could earn him a regular spot in José Mourinho’s future starting line-ups.
